  1. In the days since this story became big news, airlines have made the policies more clear. It seems at the present time, you are only required to turn off , or put in airplane mode, your device during take offs and landings. That said, I read a story about the pilot of the plane this young woman was on, telling her that he was using an IPAD during take-off. Since this rule has been in place for so long, I think it may take a while to be changed. I have read many reports stating that electronic devices pose no hazard to flying aircraft.
